Levino Capital is a sydney based mid-sized financial firm that experienced a phishing incident in 2020 which manages funds significant investment portfolios for institutional and high-net-worth clients.
With 250 staff members across investment, operations, and support functions, we handle highly sensitive financial data and maintain critical market positions that require robust cybersecurity protection.
In 2020, our organization exprienced a spohisticated phishing attack that resulted in attack that resulted in unauthorized access to client data and a financial impact of AUD 800,000. This incident served as a critical wake-up call, revealing significant gaps in our cybersecurity culture, governance frameworks, and technical defenses.
The aftermath of this incident prompted a comprehensive review of our security posture, leading to this cybersecurity awareness program. We recognized that technology alone cannot protect against human-factor vulnerabilities we needed to fundamentally transform our organizational culture and implement robust governance structures.
To rebuild resilience, Levino launched a Cybersecurity Awareness Program to strengthen staff behaviour, technical controls, and governance alignment.
