Introduction : You Are the Shield
In today’s digital environment; attackers are no longer relying only on breaking through technical defenses such as firewalls or antivirus software. Instead, they increasingly focus on the human element, exploiting mistakes or lapses in judgment. Each employee is, in fact, a “human firewall.” By staying alert and practicing safe behaviors, you can stop an attack before it even begins. Something as simple as refusing to click on a suspicious email link can save the company from a major data breach.

Employee Cybersecurity Awareness Training

Despite training and controls, breaches can still happen. The crucial step is recognizing and reporting incidents quickly. Warning signs include sudden system slowdowns, frequent crashes, unknown software installations, or unusual email activity. Employees must never attempt to fix the issue themselves but should disconnect from the network and contact IT immediately. In one incident, an employee noticed their files suddenly encrypted and reported it right away. The IT team contained ransomware before it spread across the company network. Quick action minimizes damage and protects the organization as a whole. (CIS Control 17: Incident Response Management).
